| dc.description.abstract | Este artículo tiene como objetivo comprender las formas en las que el Partido Vanguardia Popular (PVP) leyó y utilizó el contexto político desarrollado en Guatemala bajo el gobierno de Jacobo Árbenz Guzmán (1954) y, especialmente, la promulgación de la Reforma Agraria para posicionarse en el debate político nacional y regional, tras su derrota en la guerra civil de 1948. Asimismo, se explora su visión sobre el rol que debía jugar Costa Rica y su política exterior en este delicado contexto regional. Con esta propuesta, se pretende contribuir al estudio de los impactos regionales de la Guatemala de Árbenz, tanto de su apogeo como de su caída. This article aims to understand the ways in which the Partido Vanguardia Popular (PVP) read and used the political context developed in Guatemala under the government of Jacobo Árbenz Guzman (1954), and especially the enactment of the Agrarian Reform, to position itself in the national and regional political debate, after its defeat in the civil war of 1948. It also explores his vision of the role that Costa Rica and its foreign policy should play in this delicate regional context. This proposal aims to contribute to the study of the regional impacts of Árbenz’s Guatemala, both during his heyday and his fall. | |
